Leduc Community Information

Named in 1890 after Father Hippolyte Leduc, a missionary priest who had served the area since 1867, Leduc was incorporated in 1899 and became a town in 1906.

Leduc’s population has climbed steadily through the years. When it reached 12,000 people back in 1983 the community became a city. The 2013 municipal census pegs Leduc’s population at 27,241, with growth projections pushing the population to over 40,000 residents by 2021. It is this rapid growth that helped the Real Estate Investment Network (REIN) to name Leduc as their #4 top real estate investment town in Alberta for 2014.

Just 25 kilometres south of Edmonton, Leduc is only 10 minutes away from Nisku – one of the largest industrial parks in North America and home to tens of thousands of high paying jobs. It is also only minutes from the Edmonton International Airport and the future Port Alberta development area surrounding the airport making Leduc real estate a hot commodity. The future is bright for this booming prairie city.

Recently a new outlet mall was announced for construction at the International Airport in 2016. Just a short drive from Leduc, this giant shopping destination will feature 85 stores in 350,000 square feet of shopping space. Shopaholics rejoice!
